Fernando Lara ![]() Opening the night with the latest single, A Boat to An Island on The Wall, English singer-songwriter Benjamin John Howard invited us to participate last Friday in this musical celebration of his third album titled Noonday Dream. Ben’s guitar strumming accompanied with his voice and other 9 musicians created the perfect ambiance to enjoy the last show of the season at the Budweiser Stage. One cannot define some sounds happening on stage sometimes if the ear is not well trained, nevertheless, we can all agree that Ben’s goal is not to show off or surprise anyone but to generate a calmed and positive energy through chords, melodies and violin sounds flying in the air continuously and sometimes unadvertised. Earlier the same night, Wye Oak, the multi-talented Baltimore duo composed by the voice and guitar of Jenn Wasner and the interesting combination of drums and keyboard of Andy Stack, presented their dream pop musical proposition that warmed up the cold and windy night. It is almost impossible to say that the Andy is playing drums and keyboards at the same time and that gives a little spice to each song that can be felt on a deeper level. Lara’s Drumstick – “Sunglasses and Summer Showers”
Just after Summer is officially over and all-day festivals are gone for another season, we get this amazing concert to remind us the feeling of hearing a nice tune with a beer in our right hand and seating on the grass with our concert buddies. Let us store these memories for a couple of cold months until we can enjoy sun and music together for the next time.
